Late last year Critchlow Geospatial was pleased to announce additional co-funding from the Government’s Low Emission Transport Fund (LETF) to provide for a dedicated electric car to capture local data, enabling us to more accurately calibrate our SwitchMyFleet model.

SwitchMyFleet is our award winning, online evaluation tool for organisations considering switching their commercial vehicle fleet from Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) to electric power.

Now, this past week we’ve taken delivery of the freshly sign-written and co-branded SwitchMyFleet calibration vehicle, alongside EECA’s Gen Less platform, which encourages New Zealanders and New Zealand business to see that taking action to reduce their emissions can help them get more out of life and business.

While we actually did some early “under-cover” research drives in January, now you REALLY can’t miss the vehicle when we’re out and about on New Zealand roads - which is fantastic, because of course the idea of the branding is that it will just further increase awareness of the tool, and encourage earlier EV transition and adoption, while we’re on our travels around the country. 

The data this research vehicle will collect is important due to the huge variability of New Zealand roads and our seasonal weather changes. 

While SwitchMyFleet uses authoritative New Zealand address and road network data from NationalMap (and the user’s own real-world fleet configuration and route inputs), more locally-derived EV calibration data will provide even greater confidence that SwitchMyFleet’s outputs are within 5% of real-world measurements.
