NZ Spatial Excellence Awards

Critchlow is proud to be a finalist for the e-Spatial Spatial Enablement Award at the 2016 New Zealand Spatial Excellence Awards (NZSEA), announced at the NZSEA finalists breakfast this morning in Wellington.

The Student Transport Route Optimiser (STRO), also a finalist in this year’s NZ Hi-Tech Awards and NZ Project Management Awards, was delivered for and developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (the Ministry).

STRO is a spatially-enabled solution developed by Critchlow for the Ministry to alleviate challenges around school bus route planning, reviewing and maintenance.

The solution has set a new benchmark for the planning and development of school bus routes, taking a process that was time-consuming, costly and undertaken manually and transforming it into a user-friendly, collaborative and online route optimisation, mapping tool and reporting engine that delivers a level of visibility, cost and operational efficiency that had not previously been available.

“The project outputs have exceeded our expectations,” says Delaney Myers, Director of the Ministry of Education School Transport division.

Graeme Bond, Transport Manager at School Support Ltd, has also described the project as a “’breath of fresh air’ in how it has delivered on service agents’ business needs.”

STRO is now seen by the Ministry’s School Transport team as one of their core business management solutions.

The team at Critchlow are honoured to be finalists in the NZSEA this year alongside a number of organisations and people who truly are the best of the best in the New Zealand spatial industry.
