Steve founded Critchlow over 25 years ago, driven by the belief that New Zealand organisations could benefit enormously from affordable geographic information systems. He remains the Managing Director and Geospatial Data & Solutions Practice Leader today. Under Steve’s leadership, Critchlow has become a recognised pioneer and leader in the New Zealand and Australian spatial and emergency management sectors, having developed and delivered many “firsts”.
Over the years, Steve has been instrumental in securing strong partnerships with industry-leading solution providers in the geospatial and emergency management sectors, such as Pitney Bowes (MapInfo), Juvare (WebEOC), and Whispir, as well as cultivating Critchlow’s flagship product, NationalMap and, more recently, NationalMap Data Service, a wholly online service that offers current, accurate, and user-friendly digital mapping data.
As a business leader, Steve consistently encourages and enables the Critchlow team to develop and deliver quality solutions to clients that are innovative, customer-specific, and true to spec. He is incredibly passionate about the development of individual accountability and nurturing the skills and knowledge of his team which, in turn, has made for an organisation that is brimming with people who are experts in their field.
