The simplicity and accessibility of tile server based content delivery make it an ideal way of sharing content such as aerial imagery among MapInfo Professional users. With MapInfo Professional 10.5, centralising data and maximising performance are no longer competing objectives. Search and Discover Data MapInfo Professional 10.5 adds whole new capabilities to help users and organisations to search for data within the organisation or from around the world. Metadata (think of this as "data about data") is easily collected and shared with industry standard data catalogs available from PBBI or other vendors. This includes the OGC CSW standard which is also required for meeting INSPIRE data sharing requirements. One or more catalogs can be searched at a time to find data that you need. These data catalogs might reference an organisation's own internal data or they could be public or private data catalogs offered by other organisations that are on the Internet. Another powerful capability of this is the ability to instantly view the actual data in MapInfo Professional. This is done when data is exposed as WMS or WFS links. |
